Richard Lipsey

Richard Lipsey is one of Canada’s most renowned economists. He is Professor Emeritus at Simon Fraser University. He has held positions at Queen’s University, the University of Essex, the London School of Economics. His several textbooks have been translated into more than 15 foreign languages and he has written more than 180 articles and book chapters on theoretical and applied economics and policy. His book Economic Transformations: General Purpose Technologies and Long Term Economic Growth (with Kenneth Carlaw and Clifford Bekar) won the 2006 Schumpeter prize for distinguished writing on evolutionary economics. In 2005, he was awarded the gold medal for achievement in research from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the Econometric Society.
